Did you know...
  • that the Chamber Concert Ushers meet, greet and seat guests at the Toledo Club performances are from the Toledo Symphony League.  Four ushers are at each concert.
  • that the League volunteers provide the food and beverages for the Community Music Lesson Recital Receptions each year.  Volunteers set up, clean up, and tear down for each reception.
  • that the Remembrance Fund scholarships are awarded to Toledo Junior Youth Orchestra musicians and scholarships are also awarded to Toledo Youth Orchestra musicians.  The League plays a key role in fostering the talent of these young musicians each year.  “In memory of” and “in honor of” donations are placed into this fund administered by the Remembrance Fund Committee.  Several of the named scholarships are endowed and are awarded annually.

  • the Annual TSL Showcase of the Arts has over 1600 entries from 18 teachers at 15 schools in Northwest Ohio.  An awards reception is held immediately following the awards presentation ceremony.  League volunteers coordinate this event including judging, display, set up, tear down, and provide ribbon and rosette awards.
  • that we provide a summer study grant for a member(s) of the Toledo Symphony Orchestra.
  • that the Manager of the Toledo Youth Orchestra’s is an active League member.  She is responsible for preparation at rehearsals and assists the coordination for all of the auditions of both of the Orchestra’s and auditions for Remembrance Fund scholarships.

  • that local young musicians compete in the Young Artists' Competition and winners are chosen to receive financial awards from the League and the privilege to perform with the Toledo Symphony at a Family Concert during the concert season.  Applicants have traveled from Ann Arbor, Findlay, Sandusky and all the way from the Indiana border.
  • that League volunteers support the Young People's Concerts each year.  Over 25 members usher at every concert at two back-to-back performances for each date.  The concerts are performed by the Toledo Symphony Orchestra and are carefully designed for a “learning through listening” experience for over 12,000 students each season.  The logistics behind the scene are almost impossible to describe.
  • that we honor the Toledo Symphony Orchestra musicians at an Orchestra Appreciation Dinner each May between the rehearsal and Pops concert.  The League members provide the food, coordinating the meal for the TSO musicians and then tear down before the first guest arrives for the concert.
